JIN AKIYAMA is the distinguished professor of mathematics and a vice-president-elect of Tokyo University of Science, a member of the European Academy of Science, and also serves as the founding editor of the journal, “Graphs and Combinatorics.” He is particularly interested in discrete and solid geometry, and has published many papers in these fields. His mathematics lecture series was broadcast on NHK television and radio between 1991 and 2013. He was a member of the Organizing Committee of the UNESCO-sponsored traveling exhibition, “Experiencing Mathematics”, first shown in Denmark on the occasion of ICME10 in 2004. He built two hands-on style math museum called “Akiyama’s Math Experience Plaza” in Tokyo in 2013 and Museo de Experiencia de las Matematicas in Santo Domingo in 2017. He is the author or co-author of more than 200 books including, “Treks into Intuitive Geometry” (with K. Matsunaga, Springer, 2016), “Factors and Factorizations of Graphs” (with M. Kano, Springer, 2011) and, “A Day’s Adventure in Math Wonderland” (with M. Ruiz, World Scientific, 2008), which was translated into ten different languages. He was also the team leader of Japanese delegation to IMO in1990 and 1991.
